5 Things I Want to See in Fashion Dreamer

If you know me, you’ll already know that I am a huge Style Boutique fan. I’ve been eagerly awaiting a new entry for years, and it’s been the only 3DS game I’ve touched in as long, so I was ecstatic to see Fashion Dreamer coming to Nintendo Switch with syn Sophia at the helm once again. It looks gorgeous, and a fresh direction for them on home consoles, but we still don’t know a whole lot about it.

I’ve loved what I’ve seen so far, but I’d like to see some of the following make it in, too.

Styling NPCs

We know you can style yourself and suggest outfits to other players, but as you’re an influencer in this game rather than a store owner, I’m curious to see what interaction with NPCs you’ll have in this one. I want to help others unlock their inner fashion knowledge too, along with hairstyles, nails and make-up, of course.

Overarching Stories

Style Boutique has always had an overarching plot, with it focused on your character building their own boutique and helping others to be fashionable, as well as helping other characters with their own hopes and dreams. Style Boutique 3 in particular had a strong supporting cast, and I loved how expansion their own journeys were and how they intersected with your own.

Post-launch Support

I like to hope that this is a given, but the other games weren’t supported outside of launch, if much at all. Thankfully they’re large games packed with content, but given the ambitious scale of Fashion Dreamer, I’d love to see new brands, outfits and other customisation options being added as and when. I don’t really see much else coming outside of that, but maybe some sort of time-limited fashion events too (that of course you can still partake in afterwards in your own time).

More Social Elements

There’s more social elements coming to this game with the ‘likes’ feature, being able to suggest outfits to other players, etc, but I’d love to see something more NPC-driven. It doesn’t need to be impactful, but being able to meet up with characters outside of story progression would be nice. Perhaps you could invite them along to a photoshoot? Given that this is on Switch, it’ll be clear that people will be sharing user-created content more than they have before.

Create Your Own Outfits

If you’ve played Disney’s Dreamlight Valley, then you’ll know that there’s an extensive mechanic in-game where you can create your own clothes with motifs, etc, that you’ve unlocked. It’s really cool and you can create some amazing looks with it, and I’d love to see something like that here, especially if you’re able to share clothing. In Miitopia you can share a code so others can download your creations, so maybe something like that!

That’s about it from me. I’m so excited for this game — it’s actually the game I’m most excited for in 2023 along with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. I hope to see you online!
